Trading Eases During
April

Trading figures coasted during the month of April as share volume eased
to 519 million shares from the 556 million shares traded last month but rose eight per
cent from the same period last year. The value of shares was $436 million, down 14 per
cent from $508 million in March 1998 and down 33 per cent from April 1997.
The VSE Composite Indicator rose slightly to close the month at 629.54,
up from 626.95 on March 31, 1998. The VSE Mining Indicator eased fractionally to 491.84
from 497.27 last month.
One new company was welcomed to the Vancouver Stock Exchange in April.
Bice Ventures Corp., a British Columbia-based company, listed on April 2, 1998. The
company is involved in the acquisition and exploration of mineral properties in Kirkland
Lake, Ontario.
One Reverse Take-over was completed during the month. CTF Technologies
(formerly Teledata Ventures Corp.) resumed trading on April 20, 1998. The company is
involved in an advanced computerized management system for tracking mileage and refueling
for the fleet transportation industry in Brazil.
