VSE Announces
President’s Advisory Council
Vancouver, B.C. – Michael E. Johnson, president and chief executive officer of
the Vancouver Stock Exchange (VSE), is pleased to announce the inauguration of the
President’s Advisory Council.
The purpose of the council is to ensure that the VSE has ongoing,
direct communication with its listed companies. The 15 council participants have been
identified for their specific market knowledge and will serve as a sounding board for Mr.
Johnson regarding new market initiatives. Council participation will enable each to
discuss ideas, provide input and address current issues directly with Mr. Johnson.
"The securities industry is complex and undergoing substantial
change," says Mr. Johnson. "To function effectively, the views of all
participants must be considered. The President’s Advisory Council will help to ensure
that listed company issues are fully considered."
The President’s Advisory Council is comprised of 15
representatives: five from each of the following three market groups:
- Listed Company Association, a group comprised of VSE listed company representatives
- Local industry associations, such as mining and technology
- Other listed-company representatives whose knowledge and active market participation can
effectively broaden the council’s industry perspective.
