CDNX continues to break records

Trading activity on the Canadian Venture Exchange (CDNX) continued to break records as the recent rise in gold prices complemented the rally in tech juniors.

Market activity on CDNX climbed to new levels today with 125 million shares worth $164 million traded. A record number of 37,987 transactions was also reached today.

The rise in the price of gold spurred interest in CDNX mineral exploration companies as four of today’s top five traders by volume are in the mining sector. Savanna Resources led all issues with a volume of 7.5 million shares, climbing $0.04 to close at $0.08. Savanna Resources was followed by: Inlet Resources, up $0.01 to $0.21 on 5.9 million shares; Multiplex Technologies was down $0.10 to $0.28 on 4.1 million shares; ITL Capital was up $0.02 to 0.20; and Mandorin Goldfields was up $0.12 to $0.28.

The CDNX Index closed at 3134.82, up 78.55 points on the day and up 34 per cent during the year.
