On February 22, 2000, a record volume of 159
million shares traded, bringing Februarys volume to 2.4 billion shares, an increase
of 83 per cent over Januarys figures. The months daily average of shares
traded was 114 million.
A record $220 million traded on February 9, 2000, contributing to
Februarys value of $3.4 billion, which doubled Januarys total. The average
daily value of shares traded in February was $163 million.
The CDNX Index also continued its ascent, surpassing the 3000 mark
early in the month and closing for February at 3828.30, a 33 per cent increase over
January.
There were nine new listings during the month, compared to seven
during January, and two reverse take-overs. The new listings are: Meridex Network Corp.
(RTO); ATI Airtest Technologies Inc.; Altitude Venture Captial Corp.; Abington Ventures
Inc.; Transworld Trading Corp. (RTO); Slam Exploration Ltd., Future Mineral Corporation;
Intergulf Resources Corp.; Salish Ventures Inc.; and, Scorpio Mining Corp.
