Board of Directors of the Canadian Venture Exchange (CDNX)
announced today that Dennis Burdett has resigned as Chairman of the Board. G. Scott
Paterson, Chairman and CEO of Yorkton Securities Inc. and former Co-Vice Chairman of CDNX,
has been unanimously elected as the new Chair.
Mr. Burdett, who is Executive Vice President of Canaccord Capital
Corporation, will remain on the CDNX Board, but has left his post as Chair to devote his
attention to an illness in his family.
"We are sorry to see Dennis step down. His leadership
not only as CDNX Chair, but also as a member of the steering committee that orchestrated
the creation of CDNX has been admirable," explained Ian Brown, CDNX Vice Chair
and Executive Vice President and Director of Goepel McDermid Securities Inc.
In addition to his role at CDNX, Mr. Paterson serves the industry as
a member of the Board of Directors of the Investment Dealers Association of Canada.
"I am delighted to serve our industry in this capacity. CDNX
has proven to be a great success in its short history and I am confident that CDNXs
significance in Canadian capital markets will continue to accelerate in the years to
come," Mr. Paterson said. "CDNX is one of Canadas most important assets in
our countrys quest to optimize capital formation and job creation for early-stage
companies."
