Notes Market Activity for May
|
|
The Canadian Venture
Exchange (CDNX) recorded a decrease in trading activity for the month of May. The volume
of shares traded on CDNX declined from 981 million shares in April to 877 million shares
in May, a decrease of 11 per cent. The value of shares traded was reduced by 41 per cent,
totaling $804 million for May.
The CDNX Index closed at
3263.55 on May 31, a decrease of 8 per cent over April and an overall increase of 63 per cent since
its launch in November 1999. The technology index dropped by 17 per cent during the month,
the mining index lost 4 per cent, and the oil & gas index rose by 16 per cent.
There were 21 new listings and three reverse take-overs (RTO) during
May bringing the total of new listings and RTOs for the year to 70. New listings for the
month included: Ebully Inc.; Patfind Inc.; Yes I.C. Technologies Inc.; La Mancha Resources
Inc.; Bricol Capital Corp.; CGX Energy Inc.; Kingfisher Ventures Inc.; Virgin Energy Inc.;
Tael Capital Inc.; Sitec Ventures Corp.; Candente Resources Corp.; Bearclaw Capital Corp.;
Seventh Wave Capital Corp.; Cobra Venture Corporation; Medcomsoft Inc.; Brisbane Capital
Corp.; Petroglobe Inc.; Healey Capital Corp.; Continuum Health Care Inc.; FTM Investment
Corporation; and, Golden Goose Resources Inc. Mays RTOs were: Sangoma.com Inc.;
Redwood Resources Ltd.; and, Fuel Cell Technologies Corporation.
